LWVFC FACILITATES DISCUSSION ON ELECTION DATE CHANGE REFERENDUM

To help prepare voters for the referendum question on the November 8 ballot, the League of Women Voters of Falls Church produced a fact sheet outlining the pros and cons of holding local elections in May and November. In addition, the League held an informational meeting on this issue October 20 at the Falls Church Community Center. Speakers included Martha B. Brissette from the State Board of Elections, Renee Bergmann Andrews, Secretary of the Falls Church Electoral Board, and Bryan E. Polk, Vice Mayor of Manassas Park, a jurisdiction that in 2008 moved its local elections from May to November. Vice Mayor Polk's key points are available here. To view the complete forum, which was taped by FCC TV, please click here.

The Falls Church League of Women Voters initially studied the question of moving the City's municipal elections from May to November. To read the resulting report published in January 2001, please click here.
